being already attempted to sign Lionel Messi and then Kylian Mbappé earlier this summer, Saudi Arabia club Al-Hilal, who are backed by the country’s sovereign wealth fund, finally managed to bring in a star forward from PSG in Neymar. The Brazilian’s move on a lucrative two-year deal was confirmed yesterday.

Like the former Barcelona man, Marco Verratti is one of the players who have been told they are surplus to requirements in the French capital. The Italian midfielder, who has been with PSG for 11 seasons, also has an offer on the table from Al-Hilal, and Neymar is looking to convince the Euro 2020 winner to join him in the Gulf state, according to RMC Sport.

The Ligue 1 champions have been offered €45m, but are holding out for €50m. Verratti himself wants to stay in Europe, but potential suitors are not necessarily keen on matching his club’s valuation and his own salary rate. In any case, for the time being, the former Pescara man is training with the rest of the first team, even though he was not involved in the opening game of the season against Lorient.
