DMX sadly passed away on April 9th, 2021 at the age of 50. His death was a hard pill to swallow and new information about his cause of death makes it so much more tragic.
According to new reports from the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office, it has been revealed that DMX died due to a heart attack caused by a cocaine overdose.
It was reported at the time that he passed away due to a heart attack, but now it is confirmed that the legendry rapper was on cocaine at the time. The quantity of cocaine they found in his system was not noted.
Some reports had it that DMX, whose real name was Earl Simmons had COVID-19, but his management has refuted those claims as false. He fought to stay alive in a White Plains, New York hospital, but he sadly passed away after a weeklong battle.
This report from the examiner’s office was reported by Vulture, who also confirmed DMX’s death was caused by a cocaine-induced heart attack that caused a lack of blood circulation to his brain.
An analysis was also done on DMX’s urine which showed the presence of cocaine in his body as well. No autopsy was performed on the legendary rapper as the cause of death was determined beforehand by police and other medical professionals.
A source further explained the situation: His death literally happened immediately because the brain was dead. So obviously, there were a number of days where he was on ventilatory support and so forth in the hospital. However, he was diagnosed brain-dead early on … He never woke up from [a] coma.
May his soul continue to rest in peace.
