With nine matches to go until the end of LaLiga, already a lot appears to be decided with Barcelona leading the way, and Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Valencia, set for Champions League places, but there is still plenty to decide.
1. Relegation
Four teams are in the fight to stay up with Malaga, Deportivo and Las Palmas worst off with poor results recently. Levante have won their last two games and it looks more positive.
2. Seventh place
With the Champions League places decided, the Europa League slots are not so certain and neither is seventh place. There are a hold host of teams in the fight including: Villarreal, Sevilla, Girona, Betis, Getafe, Celta and Eibar.
3. Second place
The fight for the runners-up position could go to the end with Atletico Madrid looking to keep their position and being pressured by Real Madrid and Valencia who look in good shape for the challenge while Simeone’s team have a lot of injuries.
4. Will Betis finish ahead of Sevilla?
There is plenty of rivalry between these two Andalusian teams and while Sevilla have had the upper hand in the championship in recent seasons, Betis are doing better this year.
5. When will Barcelona win the title?
The record for winning the title is five matches before the end of the season and it has happened on five occasions – four for Real Madrid and once for Barcelona. There are still 27 points in play with Barcelona having an eleven point lead.
6. Only two teams have finished the season unbeaten
Barcelona could become the third team to finish the season without a lost which has only been achieved by Athletic Club (1929/30) and Real Madrid (1931/32).
7. Barcelona aim for Real Sociedad’s record
Real Sociedad managed to go 32 games without a loss in the 1979/80 season and Ernesto Valverde’s side are three games from equaling it.
8. Pichichi
It looked clear that Lionel Messi would be the top scorer earlier in the season but with Cristiano Ronaldo’s good form it is not so clear now. Messi has 25 while Ronaldo has 22.
9. Zamora
Ter Stegen and Oblak are in the fight for the record of conceding fewest goals. The Barcelona stopper has let in 13 and the Atletico goalkeeper 14
10. Girona aim to become best debutante team in LaLiga
Girona will look to better the record of Albacete in 1991/92 who finished in seventh place after winning 14 matches
